The picture shows a specimen of
- Lycaena tityrus
- family: Lycaenidae
English: Sooty Cooper
German: Schwefelvögelchen
... with slightly opened wings.

Species information
The species occurs in middle and south Europe and Asia eastwards to Siberia. It likes open and flower-rich grass-land but can also be found at humid forest-clearings. In mountain-regions, tityrus can be found at elevations up to 2500 m.

Wingspan: about 25 mm.
Foodplant of the caterpillar: Rumex spec., in particular Rumex acetosa

Location: North Italian Alps, Val Ultimo, Kornigl (mountain), 1800 m, humid and very flower-rich place. The relative species, L. virgaureae, also occured at the same place.

vom Schwefelvögelchen habe ich noch nie gehört und jetzt präsentierst Du es in aller Pracht. Die leicht geöffneten Flügel lassen gut die Oberseite erkennen. Wirklich schön!

Le ali leggermente aperte permettono di osservare contemporanemante la parte superiore ed inferiore.
