It was worth the trip and the rain, only if you had taken back this single picture. It is beautiful, Joey, so smooth yet so detailed, with deep and natural colours. Hey Joe,
I see you have some new hardware, and from this image I'd say you're making good use of it. You've nailed the exposure here, perfect. It's actually so good it's quite striking. Probably a little under what most camera meters would set and that slight (perhaps 1/3 to 1/2 of a stop) underexposure has really allowed the rich colours in the coat and the true colours of the white feathers (it's very slightly off-white) to come out. Perfect setting (thanks to Miles), perfect background, I mean the light, shadow in addition to being nicely out of focus. Great depth of field with no fall-off in focus on the Owl. My only nit would be that I think the crop is too tight, a little more on top and to the right would be better. That really is nit-picking though and would make this a perfect 10 for me. Well done.

I don't think I can add anything that has not yet been said. This is a wonderful portrait of a beautiful bird, and this one deserves a round of applause. Sharpness, focus and composition is just great. The detail and patterns on the plumage is just great and this one seems to be the perfect model. The heart shaped face always amazes me.
