Hi Ruth, good sharp shot of this young deer, with excellent capture of that eye! The colour is good, and you've employed good depth of field with your large aperture to mute down the background. I especially like the pose with the perked ear.

Going forward you might want to add some notes and crop the shot a bit on the right, so he's not standing in the centre of the shot. Placing him just off centre tends to be a little more appealing to most people, but for a first shot this is very good.
