| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
The morning was foggy, the lighting bad, but just for the heck of it, I decided to take my camera with me as I walked the dog because I never know if I'll see something I'd like to preserve.
As we walked by a spruce tree, I heard scratching and tell-tell shells falling to the ground - usually that means a squirrel. I walked under the tree and looked straight up. This little rascal didn't move an inch - almost as if he would be invisible if he made no movement. Not even his tail twitched. However, the moment I left, I noticed he scurried down the tree for the few peanuts I left for him - but not before making sure the coast was clear.
Although these are funny critters, I've noticed hawks flying about, looking, I suppose, for an easy lunch. So far my squirrelly friends are all accounted for, but there will come a day when I will lose one because of a predator of squirrels. That's the way nature is, and I'd much rather it be from another predator than from man because man seems to harbor few feelings towards some of these creatures. I know somebody who shoots them because they find them annoying. Then I remember there are folks like us, folks who can enjoy what nature has to offer, even when we see the predator catch the prey (and why do we leave the camera at home on those days?), and are smart enough to realize life goes on and that's natures way of dealing with the population. Gee, when did I get so thoughtful? I assure you, it's a fluke. :) |

Hi Kathy
Lovely shot of the cute Squirrel, nicely composed with a great close up POV, lovely pose, very good sharp detail and a nice catchlight in the eye, you have done really well with the bad lighting as the subjuct is nicely lit, good colours too.
Hil
Bellissima momento di cattura, buoni POV e composizione, buoni i dettagli considerate le scarse condizioni di luce, belli i colori. Grazie e complimenti. Ciao Maurizio
Hello Kathy,
