Motacilla alba (White Wagtail) [in Turk. Akkuyruksallayan]

Dear Friends, I would like to dedicate this beautifull bird capture to one of my beloved and heartfelt friends in TN, Jane Magen (jaycee) who is an expert on the photographing the birds. This is also my first posting on the birds :-) I hope you can like this!

It is a small passerine in the wagtail family Motacillidae, which also includes the pipits and longclaws. This species breeds in much of Europe and Asia and parts of north Africa. It is resident in the mildest parts of its range, but otherwise migrates to Africa. It has a toehold in Alaska as a scarce breeder.

This is an insectivorous bird of open country, often near habitation and water. It prefers bare areas for feeding, where it can see and pursue its prey. In urban areas it has adapted to foraging on paved areas such as car parks. It nests in crevices in stone walls and similar natural and man-made structures.

This is a slender bird, 16.5-19 cm in length (East Asian subspecies longer to 21 cm), with the characteristic long, constantly wagging tail of its genus. The nominate subspecies Motacilla alba alba is basically grey above and white below, with a white face, black cap and black throat.

I took this photo at the east tip of Karpas Penninsula while we were searching the herptiles of the Cyprus Island.

Jane does love this dedication very much - Nick is right. This little Wagtail - a bird I have never seen is wonderful. An excellent shot with great details. The pose is wonderful. I will treasure this picture from my dear friend on his visit to Cyprus.

This is a very nicely dedicated photo to Jane..She has been an inspiration to me since I joined the site.
The Wagtail is a difficult specimen to capture and you have done well here..perhaps though in all honesty you needed to be a bit closer to show the true grace and beauty of this wonderful bird..
That said you have captured good details....The light is good as is the framing on the rock...Its an Excellent first bird capture.

Lovely shot of this wonderful Wagtail.
Beautiful how you've captured this little bird on the rock in between the flowers.
Beautiful contrast and color tones.
Like always you've done a great job on sharpness and exposure and therefore all details, even in the whites, are wonderfully visible.
