Hello, today i went to the pond at 1km from my home
and i was first happy to see that the pond is melted
and then 2 see 2 couples of Wood Ducks,

both couples where perched on the trees,
i shot in image separatly the male and the female,
before this image i shoot the male, but because
this female was the first one i saw in the tree
it is why i am posting this one before

i give this image's title :
« 2008's first perched Wood Duck »
because last year i saw and shot in image
alot of them that they where perched on the trees

photo shot in RAW, ISO 400

from the « All About Birds » website :
http://www.birds.cornell.edu/AllAboutBirds/BirdGuide/Wood_Duck_dtl.html

here is a little paragraph :

« Female

Bushy crest on head. Head and cheek gray
with bronze and purple sheen. White area around eye,
tapers to rear. Chin and throat white. Upperparts olive
or gray with metallic sheen. Breast gray-brown
with tan streaks. Belly and under tail white. Sides brown.
Tail dark. Bill dark with thin white line at base. »

thanks for viewing and critiques

Hello Asbed,
One duck in the tree is worth two in the bush. Great image my friend I still can't get used to seeing ducks in trees. Thank you for sharing this excellent capture.

Hi Asbed,

I always get a kick out of seeing a duck in a tree. Not where I'd expect to see one. She stands out beautifully on the branch with the blue sky behind her. No blue skies here today but we can count on them being back tomorrow. No way will I see a sight like this though.

Hello Asbed. Interesting to see web feed duck perching on tree branch. Good clear blue background seems like your signature image. I like the natural habitat in the frame too. Best regards. Jusni

He escapes me...
That rhymes in English....all ending in eeeeee...anyway it is an unusual sight, but you are most apt to catch these as anyone I know!

Hello Asbed

Another beautiful Wood duck capture.
I am glad you are seeing the wood ducks again this Spring.
Perhaps I will be able to get there to see this too.
Well focused with very good detail.
Lovely vivid colours.

Hello asbrd,

What a rare ducks and yhs is the first time i see one.
Sharness and pov are good in there natural habitat.
The photograph looks very busy by the many tree branches but so as you aleady write is this the natural habitat.
I thought ducks are on the water?

Regards Gert

Definitely a good POV for the duck Asbed :}

Bonjour Asbed,
Je voulais justement aller voir si les canards sont arrivés dans cet étang mais je n'ai pas eu le temps. :(
Merci de partager celui-ci qui pose fièrement perché sur ce tronc d'arbre.
Bravo
Lise

Hi Asbed.
I have met such bird very seldom in our places but on the tree I have never met at all. Nice natural scene with attractive tree branch pattern, excellent derails and alive colours. My best wishes and TFS.
Alexei.
