[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Hello All,

Here is another shot of an American Robin hard at work building its nest. I spent about an hour watching this pair fly back and forth between the riverbank and the nest. One bird would constantly fly back with building material while the other kept a close eye on the surroundings. Total team work! Both were busy, either carrying material back to the nest or chasing blackbirds and other robins away from the vicinity. It was quite a show.
As a note, I stayed well away from the nest and let the birds do their thing. Human presence beside a nest can cause many problems. For one it can stress the occupants and more importantly, it can point out the nest to other predators which will not be beneficial to the owners. So bottom line is: respect their environment as much as possible.
This picture was shot on a cloudy, dull day. I had to crank up the ISO to get a fast enough shutter speed but even then, it came out a bit blurred. It seems like those kind of shots are a never ending lesson. There is always room for improvement.... Hope you like it.

hello Martin

wonderful in-flight shot ot the American Robin on working action,
fine POV and DOF, i love that in the framing you did'nt crop close
by leaving a good space in front of the bird, the bird is frozen
on his flight excellently and the blur of the wings shows the motion,

Hi Martin,
Looks to me that the only blurred things are those that should be. The bg, for instance, which is lending to the motion of the shot, as well as the wings. Everything else about the bird is in sharp focus -- you did well with color and lighting on the dull day. This is a very good shot - and I like the reflection of the landscape caught in its eye too.
