Ornithogalum

| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
Now at the middle of spring the violet carpet of Coridalis has been changed with the white carpet of Ornithogalum umbellatum. It is a common plant in the rare forests and shrubs. It is a member of the Liliaceae family. The plant has a bulb enabling the flowering of the plant in mid spring before tree leaves are developed. Flowers are white and umbelliform grouped.
Being wide spread usually it gets no attention. If you look at the flowering spike you can see the delicate green white buds and later the nice white flowers. Flowers close in the evening or on bad weather opening when sun is shining or weather is calm.
Even if it is not rare or has no colored flowers it worth doing photos in an attempt to show the delicate texture of flower’s white petals when fully open in the spring sun. |
