A good portrait for our friend Loot Eksteen Bayram, for me, that small gastropod shell at upper left corner of the frame is a bonus, however a little outside of your shallow DOF...

Hi Bayram

This smiling skink has surely put a smile on my dial. Thanks my friend it is a great pleasure and an unexpected honour. You are right, I simply "LOVE" it. As the cricket song goes, "We don't like it, we love it" so too I can say of this shot and dedication "I don't like it, I love it".

You have mastered so well to show the superb shiny surface of a skink's skin. Further you used the characteristics of the DOF fall-off to great advantage to zone the area of focus precisely in the range of the face and use the OOF areas directly in front and behind to give maximum impact to the shot. The lighting is just amazing as the exposure levels were perfectly controlled. This assisted in the final rendition of the colours which are rich and pleasing on the eye. Of course don't forget that lovely little highlight in the skink's eye.

I'm back from a trip and see that I missed some pictures of yours! Here is another of your absolutely smashing portraits that make it worth to look into your gallery. You clearly demonstrate here that many scales are movable, put one on top of the other in rooflike fashion. I never realised it before.

Time is rather limited at the moment, but I could not pass without leaving a few words of appreciation for your posting. This is indeed a lovely dedication to Loot and I know he was very pleased. Your image is super sharp with plenty of detail and excellent focus. The skink is so shiny it looks as if you have dipped it in gloss enamel before taking the photo. The scales and patterns on the skin is very clear and display well on the image. Thanks for sharing this lovely presentation.
