[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
My wife bought yesterday new cam. So when she fell asleep I borrowed it for few minutes ;-) Sky was clear and beautifull. Just uppon my head I saw the Moon talked over some very important heaven's business with Jupiter. I grabbed my wife's cam and quickly took few pictures.

This was taken without any additional hardware but of course picture is cropped and slightly sharpened.

Everyone know the Moon so few words about Jupiter, from Wikipedia.

Jupiter is 2.5 times more massive than all the other planets combined, so massive that its barycenter with the Sun actually lies above the Sun's surface (1.068 solar radii from the Sun's center). It is 318 times more massive than Earth, with a diameter 11 times that of Earth, and with a volume 1300 times that of Earth. It has been termed by many a "failed star", even though the comparison would be akin to calling an asteroid "a failed Earth". As impressive as it is, extrasolar planets have been discovered with much greater masses. However, it is thought to have about as large a diameter as a planet of its composition can, as adding extra mass would only result in further gravitational compression (until ignition occurs). There is no clear-cut definition of what distinguishes a large and massive planet such as Jupiter from a brown dwarf, although the latter possesses rather specific spectral lines, but in any case it would need to be about seventy times as massive if it were to become a star.

Jupiter also has the fastest rotation rate of any planet within the solar system, resulting in a flattening easily seen through a telescope. Its best known feature is probably the Great Red Spot, a storm larger than Earth. The planet is perpetually covered with a layer of clouds.

Jupiter is usually the fourth brightest object in the sky (after the Sun, the Moon and Venus; however at times Mars appears brighter than Jupiter, while at others Jupiter appears brighter than Venus). It has been known since ancient times. Galileo Galilei's discovery, in 1610, of Jupiter's four large moons Io, Europa, Ganymede and Callisto (now known as the Galilean moons) was the first discovery of a celestial motion not apparently centered on the Earth. It was a major point in favor of Copernicus' heliocentric theory of the motions of the planets; Galileo's outspoken support of the Copernican theory got him in trouble with the Inquisition.

As you probably noticed there isn't any of Gallilean moons on my photo - probably exposure time was too short or maybe the Moon to bright to see them.

I think the quality of your moon is very good Greg. We were watching the moon ourselves last early evening and we saw a star right beside it. It was twinkling so it can't have been Jupiter.

Interesting photo Greg. I like Moon, but my photos of the cosmic object are very bad. Jupiter is big star only for most people.

Superb shot Greg, believe it or not I just recently went to Carter observatory down in Wellington, join them for a session on talking about stars watching and learning about our planet. During the session, this proffesor was talking about Jupiter, how it is the time of the year that it shine really bright.. etc. I don't know much about the planet.. :P but now, twice in one month that I hear/read about it, I think I know Jupiter more then before. Thanks for that good notes! Your photos is great, I really like it, I have try many many time to take photos of the moon, but can't never get as close as this one, even when I used tripot, it is always plan white. This is great! Very well captured. Thanks for sharing, I learn more about it now. :)

Great work Greg! You really get a perspective on just how huge Jupiter is when it still looks this large from this distance..An interesting shot, Well done!!

What a great POV, I didn't notice Jupiter at first! This is a fantastic photo, the sharpness is excellent.

That is a good capture of the Moon Grzegorz. Jupiter in this shot is also a definite bonus. You could have darkened down more those features on the moon with a brush. Very good job.
