Hi Goldy,
fanatastic natural family scene you caught here, it's really nice to see the interaction between these animals. Great setting amongst the tall grasses from a good POV...well done and have a good weekend!

Hi Goldy,

I began to love elephants when I saw them in the wild in Africa. This grouping is wonderful and I love your title. The setting is wonderful. They do seem to be having a grand time and you caught the moment well.

Jane

Sei tornato al grande amore per gli elefanti. Splendida composizione con gli elefanti in teneri atteggiamenti parentali, ottimo POV, buona nitidezza e molto belli e "soft" i colori. Grazie e complimenti. Ciao Maurizio

Hello Goldy. Pleasant looking herd captured well in natural habitat. Well framed and exposed. Best regards. Jusni

Hi Goldy,
Nice interaction seen within the herd, good color & detail.
I like the grass FG in your composition too :)
Perhaps a bit more contrast?
TFS!

Hi Goldy,
You are back on track with your elephants and this a great congregation you have captured. A wider perspective would have also looked fine but this close up brings in nice details. Among the green grasses they look majestic. Superb lighting. Excellent POV and composition. Kudos.
TFS.

Hi Goldy

I like the POV of the scene depicting this group of elephants and especially the two at the back making contact and communicating. Family life and interactive behaviour (relations) is a fascinating aspect of elephant living to observe and to capture.

While the actual capture of a photo is one thing, but the processing and presentation is quite another. I am sure you would like me to tell you that this is a fabulous posting like so many other critiquers did, but you would know that it is not 100% true. I am sure you did not post this photo because you were convinced that photographically it was a show stopper (and that is fine since there might be various reasons or motivations for posting a specific shot), so possibly you rather posted this one because of a combination of the factors I mentioned in the first paragraph. Therefore I am sure you would appreciate if I am honest with you and say that something went wrong in the processing and in so doing try to identify what it might have been so as to help you prevent it from happening again.

I am sure you know me well enough by now to realise that I am not trying to be negative, arrogant, or demeaning, but that it is purely a sincere effort to assist. I also do not want to patronise or cross swords with the other critiquers (some of them I have the greatest respect for and have come along over quite some time), but only one person (Marhowie) addressed the fact that there is a lack of contrast. All the others either just ignored any shortfalls or actually praised the very elements that are really problematic.

From the exif I can see that this photo was captured very early in the morning (05h06). The lack of any excessively strong shades show that the sun had already appeared although very low on the horizon, but the available light was still rather soft. This notion is supported by the f/4 aperture and the 1/200 shutter speed settings. However, even though the photo itself seems to be quite fine it lacks contrast (thus reflecting an overall smokiness) and it seems you tried to overcompensate by increasing the saturation (evident from the excessive green grass in the foreground). I have done a workshop to try and address these issues and I hope you don't mind me showing you an alternative view.

Anyway, good effort and TFS.
Regards
Loot

Hi Goldy.
I like the scene full of feelings and expression. Timing is very good as well as the magnification and framing of the scene. I also like well detailed FG and BG which create a nice scenery for the animals. Well done and my best wishes.
Alexei.

Hello Goldy, Yes they seem to having a ball time. Good composition and lovely landscape. One small question. Was it cloudy? Not having enough light. Ganesh
