| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
This is one of the most dreaded plants in the forest. For some people it is to be avoided like the plague, while others seem to have no reaction at all. Just a tiny brush up against poison ivy spells disaster to many. It appears in the form of a blister that quickly spreads from the affected area of the body to other areas.
The severe itching in itself is a real torment that is cause for treatment by a physican. No part of the body is immune from its potential onslaught.
Many people think that once the first frost hits and the green leaves die that they are safe from catching posion ivy, but this is not true. The vine looks dormant, but if broken and the juice comes in contact with your skin you are still able to be infected. Should this happen it is recommended that you take a hot soapy bath within 45 minutes. |

Hi Ron,
An excellent shot, shows the leaves really well. Those oily-looking leaves are just waiting for someone to brush against them.I'm getting itchy just looking at that shot. Good composition and exposure.
I already have a couple little spots on my arms, as is usual for me once I start getting out in the woods and fields in Spring to do photography. It's rare for me to be free of Poison Ivy spots from May through October because of it. Around here, it's one of the prices to pay for seeing interesting things in the woods.
It puzzles me as to why some people can't seem to learn to identify this plant, it's pretty distinctive. I have friends who sometimes tag along with me on my photo walks, and I have to point out the Poison Ivy, which is abundant here, every time we go out, they don't remember from time to time.
Thanks,
John

Hi Ron,
very interesting note. I have notice of some ivy plants in my forest, but never saw one. I only know that sometimes they are hard to distinguish because leaves seems like others.
Good POV and great details over this leaves. Good focus and light. Good idea to blur the BG.-
good work and great note.
tfs!
have a nice day
