yes they are aquilegia i have several varieties in my garden the native of which revert back to the two tone colours. good dof and composition.

Hi Marie, I am sure the others are right with the ID we have some in the garden but they can seed anywhere . You have captured fine detail and natural colours which stand out from the dark BG. well done TFS

I am not to wise on my flower Ids but this is a fine capture..
The focus is superb and the use of flash to diminish the bg into a black is fantastic.

Irrespective of whether they are wild or cultivated, these flowers have the most subtle colours on them, Marie.
You have done a great job by capturing them. The saturation of colours is just right and the composition pleases the eye.

They look like Aquilegia !! lots of hybrids and garden escapees.. There are lots growing wild here... great shot though, the colours and details are very good, sharp and well focused.. regards h

Hi Mariki,

Very nice shot, interesting flowers, good and sharp. I wasn't aware that there were Aquilegias without spurs. I wouldn't have ID'ed it as an Aqulegia because of the lack of spurs on the back of the flowers.

I've missed this lovely capture of the double spur-less Aquilegia, quite a common hybrid in gardens where it occurs in a variety of colours. I love the sharp details and the beautful light colours of these flowers. A fine composition!
