Scopula ornata (Scopoli, 1763)
Lepidoptera: macromoths: Geometridae
Wingspan 21-24 mm.
A very attractive species, The larva lives on Thymus and Origanum vulgare and other low plants. The larva of the second generation overwinters amongst grass and pupates in a loose cocoon on the ground.
The adults fly in two generations a year: from mid May till end of August. They are easily disturbed during daytime from out of vegetation. They are active from dusk onwards and later come to light in small numbers. Has been seen on sugar also.

the delicate moth with its fine colour patterns has been nicely reproduced.

Hi Sergio,
Wonderful shot of this tiny butterfly with very impressive sharpness and colours on its open wings. Beautiful design on the wings - lace like and among the green leaves it stands out perfectly. Excellent POV and composition. Kudos.
