[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This image is one I made at a local site where work has been going on since 1974 to restore old farmland to something that closely resembles the original prairie, grasslands that were the primary ecosystem in this part of North America prior to the arrival of European settlers.

This spectacular site is the work of a very dedicated, intelligent and special gentleman, Don Gardner, who I had the great pleasure to meet for a guided tour of his property yesterday. While this is a site where the native plants have been re-introduced by the hand of man, they are reproducing and spreading on their own, and it qualifies as a wild site, so I feel that photos of it are appropriate here. It's an oasis of biodiversity set in the middle of what was once virtually infinite prairie, but is now almost infinite farm fields.

The tall, white and pink flowers on long stems are Shooting Stars, Dodecatheon media, the orange-yellow clumps of flowers are Hoary Puccoon, Lithospermum canescens, and the lighter yellow flowers are Wood Betony or Lousewort, Pedicularis canadensis. These are just a few of the plants found in local prairies. This particular restoration contains about 150 species of native prairie plants, an excellent restoration, but it also includes about 40 species of Eurasian plants that persist in small numbers. very nice combination of flowers, but they are not seen in their best, perhaps you should take pictures with full sun in the morning or in the afternoon. TFS Ori

Beautiful composition, excellent sharpness and wonderful colours. I think I prefer this version than the one in the WS. The colours are warmer and the contrast is better.

Hallo John
I would love to walk through a field with flowers as beautiful as these ones on your photograph. I think I'll forget about the time, I'll stop at each one and admire the beauty, and if they have a fragrance I'll like to smell them. I am also sure that in between I'll find different kinds of insects or butterflies and all other lovely kinds of grasses, weeds and hidden treasures of interest. This is really a beautiful display of nature. Thanks for sharing.
