Hello, today i am presenting you
a 3 days old American Woodcock baby

last saturday afternoon i had a phone from a friend of mine,
he has a special licence to do American Woodcock banding,
he invite me to follow him and do images of the banding

now, to find this bird, that is a game bird,
to find the American Woodcock, you need a pointing dog,
and if you find one without pointing dog is that
you kno the place and you where VERY LUCKY

my friend has a pointing dog, and with his dog we went
to find the American Woodcock with her babys,
the pointing dog runs in the woods and when he smell
the game birds like the woodcock or the grouse
then he stops and point to the direction where the bird
is camouflaged with his natural habitat

my 2 dogs Celtick and Ranger are pointing dogs,
the avatar of my profile where i written Celtick Ranger
it is a woodcock in in-flight, he was pointed by Celtick,
and i already had posted an image of a woodcok
in in-flight, he was pointed by Ranger

You have an absolutely fascinating woods to tromp through Asbed. Getting up and in on this bird was a fun thing for you. I wonder at what the parents thought...a stalker in the woods means so much more today! A fine image. Tres! good!

Hello asbed,
I have always wanted to photograph a Woodcock: now I know that the only way to do it is to get a Pointer! But our little Terrier is more interested in rabbits!
Very nice capture of a Woodcock chick in perfect camouflage but this sharp shot show it up well already with a well developed bill.

What a delightfull picture to share.
You had a good friend to invite you to record the banding process on these lovely woodcocks..Not only were you equipped with your camera but your 2 faithfull dogs.

Cute little one Asbed,
Just enough DOF to isolate the head/chest from the environment that has camouflaged it so completely..
The green grass around the baby helps to point it out in your frame :)

Hi Asbed,

How lucky were you to be invited to see this darling Woodcock baby. I didn't realize how tiny he was until I looked at the Workshop. I can understand the need for the Pointers to find these well cammouflaged birds. You present a nice view of him and I can see how fluffy he is. Looking forward to more.

Excellent image my friend. Thanks for explaining how you found this little one because judging from your picture, we could all walk within a foot of him and never spot him! It must have been quite an experience to see this little guy from up close. TFS.
