I was looking up the Ocotillo plant and came upon Ocotillo Wells, which reminded me of a large old ari base or some such where my son in laws relatives got to stay in their RV...Now what this has to do with your picture is.....nothing...but you're right. It does look like it is posing...Just this morning I had a California Quail who was doing just the opposite...trying to hide in the tree...Ha! I got him....maybe tomorrow... I do like the interesting combination of patterns and angles...the beak is angular opposite to the branch on the right while fitting more with the empty branch on which it is perched...the sky's appear somewhat different than with the other camera...but blue is blue:-)

Your hummingbirds have such long curved bills compared to our Ruby Throated ones.
Nice sharp image with great detail. The Ocotillo plant is very beautiful and adds nice color to your image. You've done a good job at composing this shot! Good notes.

Great POV, pose, and a balanced composition Jane.
Nice detail/DOF, color, exposure and catchlight also.
I see a very faint PP outline around the flower/bird, barely noticeable though.
