Hi friends,
This is Common Babler,at the top of my hit list of most wanted list. Only the Name is Common Babler (Scientific Name-Turdoides caudatus of Muscicapidae family) but not that commonly sighted bird may be because of his terrestrial habit which is not common to other bablers. Normally feeds on ground, most of the time in pairs, runs like a wood mouse in the shelter of bushes, the coloration is a perfect camouflage for such activities. At the time of high alert i.e from any intruders, perches atop a moderate hght bush and keeps uttering a sweet trilling whistles, again not common to many other bablers.Builds a small cup shape nest with fiber and grass roots,at moderate hight in bushes. I have seen peculiar habit of these birds many times they would not complete nest, and abondan the nest, may be this is due to partners rejection, but both male and female take part in building nest. |
