Hello friends in TN.

I was walking along an abandoned parking lot under shady big trees and spotted almost 60% of the tarmac covered with this green lichen. Took a close shot at the curb with a fallen frangipani and a solitary grass in the frame.

Lichens

If the other fungi are nature's recyclers, lichens are nature's pioneers. Lichens find their homes in some of the most barren and inhospitable parts of the world. From there they slowly begin the process of creating a foundation for habitation by others.

Lichens are among the most fascinating organisms on this planet. Their very structure is unique: a symbioses of two organisms -- a fungus and algae -- so complete that they behave and look like an entirely new being. A lichen can literally eat stones, survive severe cold, and remain dormant for long periods without harm.

EDIT: Lichen or Moss? John jpdenk suggested it might be moss. I have included a wider view of the parking lot in the workshop. Thanks for any suggestion.

Thanks for viewing.

Bella e particolare composizione, ottimo POV, molto buona la nitidezza, buona esposizione con leggibilitŕ di ogni dettaglio, molto belli i colori. Grazie e complimenti. Ciao Maurizio

Hi Jusni,
A nice capture of this beautiful lichen bed along with the fallen frangipani. Excellent composition and very good details. Thanks a lot for sharing.

Hi Jusni, the lichens are nice, but that fallen Frangipani and the solitary grass help to make the composition. Otherwise it would just be a flat bed of lichens on a wet rock... Detail and that great sharp texture is very good on the lichens. The colour saturation is wonderful.

Thanks, John

Hi Jusni,
Composition, POV and details are beautiful. TFS

Hi Jusni,

A very attractive image, but the vivid green color of your lichen makes me suspect that it is a moss rather than a lichen. Are you sure of that ID?

Thanks,
John

Hi Jusni,

I have no idea if it's lichen or moss but the picture is absolutely beautiful. The flower with its perfect petals and wonderful white and yellow is stunning. The blade of grass adds to the marvelous composition. I'm wondering what that is right below the grass.

Jane

Abang,

Don't know if the green is lichens or moss, but it gives a great contrast to the white flower. Excellent exposure and focus.

Hola Jusni.
Bellos colores, alta nitidez. Fino contraste de esta hermosa flor. Los petalos en blanco lucen mejor con su fondo en verde.

Hi Jusni,
Very artistic presentation and a fine perspective done. The lichen covered green floor and the lone white flower looks fine. Very neat and sharp image with nice colours and perfect lighting. Excellent POV and composition. Kudos.

In my modest opinion I guess John's suggestion about moss is right.
Moss or lichen, the picture is very nice, I specially like the clearness shown, which allows us to see wonderful details and colours.
Thanks, Felipe.

Hi Jusni,
Fantastic composition (simple yet nice) and exposure. Beautiful minimalism. Bravo.
Have a nice weekend, László
