[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is a photo of Mount Hood at night, taken on September 22, 2007. We had a great day hiking up part way up Mount Hood, and got separated from my brother who was sick, and it was dark when we were down, and a storm was coming. Fortunatly as we waited an hour in the dark, he finally came to the car, which it was practically freezing out. On the way to a lower elevation to spend the night, as we were driving over a bridge, we so happend to see Mount Hood, and it was night, but the full moon provided light. I used a 60 second exposure to capture this one, and used part of the bridge frame and a few rocks which would act like a tripod because I do not have one, and was almost out of camera power, crossing my fingers that the photo would turn out. Lucky me. Right after the camera was done taking this photo, the mountain was burried in a thick cloud, in and out, in and out, the clouds kept going and leaving. It seemed almost strange... but I guess some mountains do this. Mount Hood is a 11,249 feet (3,429 meters) volcano after all, but has not been active for hundreds of years. The only modifications done to this photo were I slightly brightened it which is why it has a slight greenish effect. And I resized it to fit onto treknautre by using the export mode.

Wow! They are some weird clouds!
Very interesting shot, Josh!
The light is really eerie and there's a fantastic atmosphere.
As always the composition is spot-on!
Very good exposure too.
Well done!!

Joe

Nice exposure Josh,
I like the fact that you wee able to capture the starry sky, clouds and trees while still maintaining a fairly even sharpness to your image. It is always tricky when using an exposure of such time length.
