Great shot of a watchful Pigmy Cormorant. from a fine POV. Can't be easy taking such a sharp shot on a sea bicycle. Lovely lighting and composition.
Nice to see a good shot of a species that I would very much like to photograph myself.

There is an epic quality to this image, Omer.
Let me share with you my innermost thoughts regarding this deeply moving picture.
There is something elemental in your vision here that verges on the sublime.
I don't know how you do it but this forlorn Cormorant perched on a submerged stub of wood looks like a character waiting for the arrival of Noah's mythical boat to pick it up. The 'sea' in this picture fades into nothingness after a few ripples visible in the foreground and then it turn into a graphic symbol of eternity.
The technical excellence seen here is another matter altogether.

Quite a result for a handheld capture with a 500/4 from a sea bicycle! Nice composition with the bird nicely placed in the frame. Great colour/light/exposure, however I think it would benefit from rotating clockwise just to make the sea level. Very nice capture!

Excellent capture of this watchful fisher, well composed.
Great handheld work, you got a workout lugging that 500mm around..Very good detail, color, and exposure.
The primes always seem to produce a most pleasing bokeh, your Pygmy Cormorant is well isolated in the frame. As Adrian has said, perhaps a slight clockwise rotation would be better..or not :)

hello Omer,
I don't know how you succeed to make such a sharp picture on a sea-bicycle. It is a magnificent shot, great in its simplicity and well composed with the slightly decentred position of the bird.
Sorry that I have deleted my picture for which you made a very kind critique. I had some doubts on its sharpness. I went to look at it on my son's PC, which conviced me to delete it.

There is something very special about this photo - it is much more than a shot of a lone Pygmy Cormorant. The perch is wonderful, the colors are beautiful, the details are excellent. But his face!! I don't know if it's just the simple fact that he was tired of waiting for some fish or if it is an expression of deep loneliness. Whatever he is feeling or thinking this is a wonderful study.

A very regal looking cormorant waiting for its catch of the day. I have ne'ver seen a cormorant as graceful as this.I guess it has to do with the composition....the water looks a distant stretching blue and it looks realtivelty calm and in sync with the calm posed posture of the bird itself.The curvature of the log on which it is perched has worked very well to create that elegant effect in its posture.The PoV very finely gives details of the plumage which is wonderful.This is a really classic shot and goes right into my favourites.

The Cormorants are MOST difficult to register because they are so very dark; however, a CLOSE inspection can show that they are adorned with BEAUTIFUL plumage.
Your note is HIGHLY EDUCATIVE & very professional.
Technically this image "touches" EXCELLENCE. Another touch of light and it would fly to EXCELLENT.

Excellent details too, nice natural colors, and I love the water - in the FG we can see some ripples, then the water is becoming more and more blurred, and it is fading completely in the BG. The exposure shows excellent detail in the black plumage on this Pygmy Cormorant. Especially the feathers on the side of the bird are well displayed. I heard that it is not easy to take pictures of black creatures like this, because it is easy to loose details. But here you caught it perfectly, with amazing sharpness on all aspects. The light is ideally used and displayed. Thanks for sharing.

Fantastic shot - absolutely minimalistic composition, but this makes it very interesting! Great timing - even small waves and rings are well visible. Absolutely perfect DOF and sharpness, MF. I disagree with Mario, in his WS version he "photoshopped the image through" - there's a bright halo around the bird (due to the strong dose of curve adjustment), which wasn't seen on Your original pic. Yours is MUCH, MUCH better.
Interesting specie, it also lives in Hungary. I just checked out www.birding.hu for more infos - this specie was detected 2 days ago the last time, on a lake closed to Szeged city, detector counted 145 specimens.
