[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is a shot of a chipmunk, obviously. I like this one because, usually they run around so frantically its hard to get a shot of one, unless their eating.

Chipmunk is the common name for any small squirrel-like rodent species of the genus Tamias in the family Sciuridae. Around 25 species fall under this name, mainly in North America, although one species is native to Eurasia.
Tamias is Latin for "storer," a reference to the animals' habit of collecting and storing food for winter use.[1] Twenty-five species belong to this family,[2] with one species in northeastern Asia, one in eastern North America, and the rest native to western North America.

The name originally may have been spelled "chitmunk" (from the Odawa word jidmoonh, meaning "red squirrel"; However, the earliest form cited in the Oxford English Dictionary (from 1842) is "chipmonk". Other early forms include "chipmuck" and "chipminck", and in the 1830s they were also referred to as "chip squirrels," possibly in reference to the sound they make. They are also called "striped squirrels" or "ground squirrels," though the name "ground squirrel" more often refers to the genus Spermophilus. Tamias and Spermophilus are only two of the 13 genera of ground-living sciurids.

Again, any constructive criticism is heavily invited. Thank You.

nice and sweet shot of this little chipmunk. I used to have a family of chipmunks as pets when i was a kid :-D
I like the darkness of the photo and the compination of colours. nice pov and composition.
One thing I don't like is that thiny stick on the right, I'd crop it. Try it if you like, it will look better.
Tfs
g's :-)
Ilias

Hi Tom , a nice shot of the chipmunk , good natural color and detail , good sharpness for what looks like a low light shot .

composition is a bit off though , but the circumstances have that a bit trapped here , the stick mentioned by Ilias , is kind of in the way , I guess you know of the rule of thirds , as a guideline it typically works best if the critter is facing the bulk of the frame , so it does not give the impression it is looking into no where , which in turn invites the viewer to look off the frame. when I read up on composition , the write ups more or less said that anything that takes the viewer off the frame is bad , which makes sense of course , cause the best photos capture attention not release it.

it is a small detail , but many folks will notice that right away.

after cropping for that composition there is not much left but I did a quick workshop. just to show.

over all your photo is fine , and I only comment on it cause you are requesting that type of critique.

regards
Art
