Today’s post is a follow on from my previous post Call of the Osprey this shows the same bird just as it took of from its favorite perch down at the Port of Brisbane.

"JPlumb" and I spent a couple of days stalking this wonderful creature, well actually their wasn’t much stalking involved, it just sat there and occasionally it would gave us a look of disgust as we continued to take pictures.

Then when it had decided we had taken enough it would fly off round the other side of the mangrove’s out of site of the cameras.

I have included a workshop image with the down beat of the wings but thought this was a better version.

Please see the previous post for the details of this Osprey,

I shot this Raw and converted to Jpeg, cropped and reduced in size for posting, I have also passed this though “Neat Image” to reduce some of the digital noise created by the 500 iso.

Richard, I am awe-struck by the sharpness of this bird in flight.
It particularly shows in the bird's eye.
It appears as if it is casting a sideways glance at you.
You have frozen the action extremely well at 1/1600.
Well done and many thanks for showing this beauty.
Ram

hello Richard

2 excellent different in-flight shots of the Osprey, with fine POV,
great sharpness and details of the plumage, i love much more
the flight pose (specially the wings) of the one in the workshop
but i am like you didn't like the suburban background, TFS

Hi Rick

Superb cature - great panning and framing. The detail is great throughout too.

Osprey are one of my favorite birds, so I was delighted to see this one so close-up. The intensity of the eyes you've captured so well. I actually like the workshop photo slightly better for that reason, although I agree this one is better because of the background being gone. I've not succeded in capturing out local Osprey yet! Well done.

Hello Rick,
According to John your 'harbour' is a fantastic place to see birds! This is a brilliant capture of the Osprey with great focus on the eye and a nice profile of the head. Good light too and beautiful colours.
Well done!
TFS and best wishes, Ulla

Hi Rick
I love the eye and the slight tilt of the head on this guy. Well done on the exposure and great in-flight shot.

Hello Richard,
I think you made the best choice of the three photos. The focus on the head is excellent with a brilliant eye. The other photo with more colours in the wings is also very good.
Excellent POV and eye-contact.

Peter

Hello Richard

I consider you lucky to have been able to manage a wonderful capture like this.
A lovely in flight capture with super plumage detail and an almost air force fly-by eye contact.
Excellent pov and dof.
Great job.

Hello Rick, you have done an excellent job with the shot of our friend here. The positioning is perfect with the slight twist of the bird to look into the camera. The lighting is beautiful, with the shadow under the wing of the bird and the light on his head like this. The stopped motion is very good with excellent detail and colour seen on the bird and with that great contrasting blue sky. I also liked the "down-beat" with him looking out over his wing. Awesome!

Thanks, John

Hi Richard
This is a great in-flight. Very good detail.
