Hello Everyone,

Today, I am posting a shot of a house sparrow which I caught having a tasty feed in the garden.

Here is some worrying information from the RSPB:
Latin name
Passer domesticus

Family
Sparrows (Passeridae)

Overview
Noisy and gregarious, these cheerful exploiters of man's rubbish and wastefulness, have even managed to colonise most of the world. The ultimate opportunist perhaps, but now struggling to survive in the UK along with many other once common birds. They are clearly declining in both gardens and the wider countryside and their recent declines have earned them a place on the Red List.

Although I definitely observed a big decline in their numbers visiting our garden in the last few years, happily, their numbers seem to have increased again. This year, they are definitely the most common bird that is visiting.

I am going to put a photograph in my workshop of the loving care of these birds. I'm afraid it isn't the best quality, that is why I'm not posting it for comment but it is still one of my very favourite photographs!

Many thanks for stopping by.
I hope you enjoyed it.
Please feel free to offer me feedback on any aspect of the photographs.
Bev :-)

Hi Beverley. I dont see any in the garden anymore . they use to be every where . You have captured a fine close up with good detail and natural colours. Just a little soft at the tail end maybe F8 F10 would have help this. still a good picture. I must ask you how you do your frames with the bird over the top of the frame . Is it a programe you use.
TFS.

Hi Bev

As I mentioned before the ouse Sparrowsa re making a bit of a come-back here. Nice shot - good POV and detail.

James

Hi Bev,

The number of Sparrows has indeed declined not only in the UK but in many other European countries (including Finland) very significally. This is very good capture with good composition and colours and sharp details.

Hello Beverley, Good composition and nice shot. Could have been better with exposure and contrast.Ganesh

Hi BR,

Your care and love for birds is appreciated.
An image that has a dear touch..the title says so..
Sometimes, we fall short of technical quality.. but that's not to worry. The subject is presented fine..
Take care, enjoy life.
All the best.

Hi Beverly,
around here we watched the house sparrows decline more and more. But now the seem to recover. That is what makes me happy.
I like this shot because I like these little fellows. But I think it is a bit too soft. Makes me feel dizzy.
But as I said I like it because of the theme.
Thanks for sharing.
Britta
