I found this caterpillar climbing down our wood pile the other day. I don't have a clue as to it's identity, but I'm sure someone will know what kind of butterfly or moth it will eventually turn into.
It's amazing to me all the many different kinds of insects and mammals that visit our little wood pile each summer. I have even had a few snakes come slithering out at times, as I've gathered logs for a weiner rost.
I will post a closeup of this guy in the workshop. |

Very nice caterpillar shot. The shiny amber color is amazing. Exceptional detail and exposure. I searched but did not find an ID. Nice workshop photo also!
Hi Ron,
Excellent use of the ambient light with rich natural looking color.
Very good detail/DOF POV and comp. The tree bark it's on adds good interest with its texture & details also.
Great WS with amazing details of the head..
Well done!

Hi Ron,
Nice caterpillar portrait, good framing and sharpness. Can't say for sure, but I think it's a dark form of a Yellow Bear, Spilosoma virginica.
Thanks,
John

Hello Ron,
Very nice capture! The caterpillar is well presented,

Cool Ron. The colours of Brown and off brown golden'ish are very neat. And you show off the hairs on it very sharply. I actually have no interesting stories about these...they were so common when I was a kid.. Not sure when I was told about them morphing into winged beauties...but somewhere along that long ago past...Very nice image of a day of innocence and hot dogs..What a country we have eh? I love it!
