On this particular day at the Wilbur Wright Fish and Wildlife Area, there were untold numbers of beetles coupling in the fields.

I believe these are Japanese Beetles (Popillia japonica).

On the far right edge of this picture you can see where the beetles have begun to eat the leaf.

Excellent lighting, contrast, color, etc. Maybe too much dead space on the left. Nevertheless, very effective. Gary
