Teneral Female Common Blue
 |
|
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
Taken late yesterday evening, at an old gravel workings that has now returned to nature , leaving a series of lakes surrounded by trees and grass areas.
I was there because a fellow photgrapher from my club said he wanted to have a try at this type of shot so we arranged to spend an hour or so be fore we met the others in the pub for some refreshment. It had been a dull day but the sky cleared and left a sunny evening and the grass was full of damselflies looking for some where to roost for the night, mainly mature Blue-tailed males and a fair sprinkling of teneral Common Blue's like here and one mature Male common blue.
This one proved a willing model for friend Peter, she did not want to fly off as they normally do, though every time you approached with the lens it shuffled round to the other side of the stem, it could be persueded to move back by holding a hand on the other side so it walked back into shot,so we were both able to get a few shots before it felt too disturbed and fluttered off, and we wanderws off to try a few more shots on other less willing victims like the Blue-tails who did a flit if you were too fast or let your shadow cross them at all.
