Hello TN members!
This is my first post on TN, please be gentle :-)
If you read my intro page you know I don't know much about species, I am educated in different fields. Well in this case I know it is mosquito from family Culicidae but that's about all I know :-) So if you can add some more information about it that would be much appreciated, many thanx!
Photo was taken in my grandma's garden during my holidays in Poland in May 2008. What the mosquito was doing sitting on the Dandelion I haven't got a clue, I can guess it was resting and planning another attack ;-)
Taken in RAW mode, tripod used and Raynox DC250 Macro Lens.
Thanks for any critiques!
Tomasz

Hi Tomasz , welcome To TrekNature :-) , this is a very good macro to be starting off with , quite a showing of this tiny insect , with good detail, color, composition, and a great background.

from a personal taste point , I think that this photo could have been given a little more field depth , there is also a bit of grain as well.

still a great photo to start off with , look forward to seeing more. thanks for sharing
regards

Hi Tomasz!

First, I would like to welcome you on TN and hope that you will have much fun here.

You start with a very pleasant picture. It's delicate, and the pastel colours add to the value of the picture. I like the repetition of the delicate lines formed by the legs of the mosquito as well as by the plant's seed.

The basic idea of the composition is fine, but hurts the rule of thirds. The empty space on the right is the place where the human eye would expect the center of interest. I just would flip the picture (see workshop).

Kind regards

Markus

Witaj Tomku!
Witaj na TN :)
Swietne zdjecie na poczatek! Komar wyglada super na tym "dmuchawcu" ;)
Ostrosc trafiona w glowe komara, ladna kompozycja. Moze troche za duzo szumu, ale to az tak nie przeszkadza :)
Gratulacje!
Kaszek

Hi, Tomasz,

what a beauty!! Mosquitoes are usually not very attractive, but the combination of the dandelion and a pinkish /peach-like background makes this little mosquito looks extremely nice and sweet.

welcome to TN. and thanks for sharing.

Hej!

Hello Tomasz,
Wow, what a start - welcome to TN!! Superb capture of this Mosquito on the Dandelion seeds. Seeing it on the thumbnail I thought it was perched on hairy skin but this is very special and so beautiful! Excellent sharp details and I love the colours of the background. Very well done!
TFS and regards, Ulla

Hi Tomasz.
Wonderful art picture of a very nice scene. Combination of the sharp insect head and nicely blurred seeds are looked greatly. Lights and colour tones are amazing. Shot also is composed very well and POV is very impressive. My compliments and TFS.
Alexei.
