Hi Folks , with my DSLR in the shop for servicing I am left shooting with my point and shoot Canon S3 , fortunately it is one darn good camera :-)
shooting in the cameras super macro function , means getting very close to the subject. luckily there are lots of dragonflies to try with.
here is a link to a companion photo on TrekLens
thanks for stopping in
regards

Hello Art,
this is a very good photo of the dragonfly. You have used a very good DOF keeping all insect's body in focus. Image is also very sharp showing very fine details. Colors are well rendered too showing a reachness of color tones.
Thank you for sharing,
Cristian
Art,
Bless you for your many words of wisdom and kindness.
Now, for the photo...
I love dragonflies (and they eat mosquitoes, too!), and knowing how quickly they can move (some up to 60mph!) this is an awesome shot. I have a few, but have been reluctant to post them - though I may tomorrow.
Love the pattern of the wings you've got, the clarity of the body, and the way he grips onto the leaf. If I didn't know better, I'd say he's smiling.
Lovely insect, my friend. They are terrific for the environment. Once I discovered that they love mosquitoes, I've gone out of my way to attempt to attract them to my house!

So sharp you can see the shadow of the wing.
