Hello my all friends
This is second post from visiting my hometown, which I could visit it two and half years later in last August. My last post was the first one (see click Pararge aegeria - Karanlık Orman Esmeri).
Today, I will post another butterfly. This is the first post of this species on TrekNature. It is one of 12 species the genus Melitaea (LEPIDOPTERA: NYMPHALIDAE) in Turkiye.
These species are alphabetically;

*** Melitaea arduinna (Esper, [1784]) - Türkistanlı İparhan, Freyer's Fritillary,
*** Melitaea cinxia (Linnaeus,1758) - İparhan, Glanville Fritillary,
*** Melitaea collina Lederer, 1861 - Hataylı İparhan, Lederer's Fritillary,
*** Melitaea diamina (Lang,1789) - Funda İparhanı, False Heath Fritillary,
*** Melitaea didyma (Esper, [1779]) - Benekli İparhan, Spotted Fritillary,
*** Melitaea fascelis (Esper, [1783]) (formerly M. trivia fascellis),
*** Melitaea interrupta Kolenati, 1846 - Kafkasyalı İparhan [TR], Caucasian Spotted Fritillary [EN],
*** Melitaea persea Kollar, [1849] - İranlı İparhan, Persian Fritillary, Desert Fritillary,
*** Melitaea phoebe (Goeze, [1779])
*** Melitaea telona Fruhstorfer 1908 (formerly as known M. punica of North Africa),
*** Melitaea trivia ([Denis et Schiffermüller], 1775) - Güzel İparhan, Lederer's Fritillary,
*** Melitaea turkmanica Higgins,1940 - Türkmen Benekli Kelebeği, Turkmen Fritillary.

M. interrupta was described from the Caucasus as a species. It was also formerly included to M. didyma with lighter colored veins on upper wings. Both of them are similar. M. interrupta ranges in the Caucacus, Transcaucasus, North Iran and Northeastern Anatolia (Eastern Black Sea). It was recorded from Artvin, Erzurum, Gümüşhane, Rize, Trabzon, Ardahan provinces.
Another subspecies, M. i. kendevana Gross et Ebert, 1975 is found in Kopet Dağları [Mts.] of Turkmenistan.
M. interrupta flies between June and July. My shot was taken on August 10th. It was an old adult.
The species lives in grassland between 800-2500 m altitude and it prefers high elevations.

The photo was taken near Tamdere Village of Dereli District (see for landscape). It was rainy and I used compulsory flash mode of the compact camera since bad weather (lighting) condition.
Lateral view of this old butterflies can be seen on Workshop.

Dedication to Hayati Keser (Hay_kes) who is a member of TN.

Hi, dear Ahmet.
It is a pity I cannot comment all your amazing shots. Our new guest is fine. And you managed to represent it perfectly. First, it is amazing leaf as a stage. Second brilliantly reproduced butterfly. Its pose, colourtion and details are spot on. Diagonal composition and POV are perfect. Bravo and many thanks for sharing.
Alexei.

Hi Ahmet

Congratulations with this TrekNature first. I realise that there are many millions of species on this beautiful planet of ours and obviously there are lots of these which have not featured on this site, but still it is getting more difficult to find something new and to share it with this community. So, it is always great to see something new and it is a pleasure to acknowledge it as such.

It is a beautiful species with very interesting marking. You've done well to capture it with good details and placed it within a fine composition.

Well done and TFS.
Regards
Loot

Fotoğrafları çoğu zman kaçırıyorum. Bu güzel kelebeği çok güzel kadrajlamışsınız. Duştan yeni çıkmış olsada :) çok güzel...

Merhaba Hocam,
Harika bir kare olmuş. Bayram Hocamın ve sizin sayenizde ben de kalebeklere merak saldım sonunda, çekmeyi becerebilirsem yakında benden de kelebek kareleri gelebilir :)
Saygılarımla,
Naşit.

Salam Ahmet. Your macro work is brilliant with commendable sharpness and clarity. Your notes are truly academic and very useful as reference for anyone here. Beautifully framed butterfly with full spreading wings and I like the perch on the tattered leaf. Top quality image of your first class work. Well done my friend and thanks so much for sharing. Warmest regards. Jusni
