My Piece of Heaven
 |
|
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
This is one of my favorite places to go, although I am not able to get here as often as I like. Landscapes don't usually get my attention, but there was something that called to me on this particular day.
I think it was the combination of shadow and light, how both can come together as one - just as night gives way to dawn.
It's a terrific place to think, muse, or just enjoy the feeling of being free. The place seems to go on forever, giving me the feeling of not being boxed in. I can see the lonely coyote now and then, the buzz of an insect, and the dust another car will sometimes kick up.
At the start of the road there was a sign that said: warning: primitive road no warning signs. (What do they call that sign?)
Anyway, I hope you enjoy this as much as I do. I love the landscapes I often see here, but it's not a lie when I say I'm not usually motivated to snap a capture of landscapes - but that's because they rarely come out as nice as I recall them to be!
This was taken without a tripod, outside of Cheney, but quite close to Tyler - so perhaps, the middle of nowhere? |

Beautiful Landscape Kathy,
Your terrain is so different then what we have here in Ohio, and that is what seems so interesting and exciting to me. I remember when Rosie and I first took a trip out west in 2000, all the sage brush and mountains were so fascinating to see. My main goal was to see a cactus and a rattlesnake since we don't have them around here.
My first cactus was in the Badlands and I was like a kid with his first toy, I studied every inch of it. I imagine you are laughing to yourself right now, but for me it was an exciting moment. It's funny how things that we see everyday don't excite you, they become too common I guess.
Anyways I just wanted to let you know how much I enjoy seeing the wonderful landscape from your part of the country.
Ron
Hi Kathy. That something that called to you probably caught my attention to in clicking this thumbnail. The light and shadow with contrasting layers look good against the wide cloudy sky. Dreamy horizon with balanced framing. I like it and thanks for sharing. Best regards. Jusni

Hi Kathy!
You are right, the combination of leight and shadow, together with these soft lines of the hills and the pastel colour tones creates a delightful atmosphere, very well captured and exposed. It really is a piece of heaven...

Hello Kathy,
To be in the middle of nowhere, it is a very special and beautiful place and I understand well that it is one of your favourite. The light on the back-hills makes this shot so special, it gives to this landscape life and makes it desirable to know. Very well seen, my spirit is already flying around in this area :-)
Thanks so much
Anne
