[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I shot this spider very close to the place where i spotted hundreds of baby spiders on a single web (see my previous post).
I have no idea about it's ID.
Would also like the knowledgable members here to enlighten me about the white zig- zag structure on the web.

Hi.
This looks like ORB spider, one of the species.Am not sure. Last week Akshay also took a picture IN Lalbaugh in Bangalore, of the same species.GOOD PICTURE. But loooks dull. without contrast.

Perhaps light was poor and hence this dullish shot. I've tried to shoot this many times but ended up with such results. May be you had focussed right, but the light breeze might have carried it that much closer making the silk web to get into better focus as you can see. Just a guess.

This is one of the Signature Spiders. I've one exactly the same in my garden and is doing well ever since I noticed it about 6 weeks back. I've left it undisturbed, but had a shot at it, many unsatisfactory ones. Will try to post them here.

Regards.
Dinu

I somehow believe this is natural shot as I have seen this insect and they create their web in such a place where you can not each reach. My son shared this picture sometime back and I understand. Under the circumstances (if the above is the same in this case) good shot. Ganesh

The white zigzag is a clever way to avoid that birds fly through the web and mess it up.
It makes the web visible.
Birds and bugs see the zigzag. When flying around the zigzag they fly into the web. Bugs dies. Birds learn to fly from more distance from the zigzag and then avoid the web.

Hi Pushpinder,
Interesting capture here showing the Argiope Spider. You can find the same in Ram Sir's gallery with notes.
I think the white X thread that they spin keeping the other parts of the web more subtle makes it all the more interesting to watch these spiders.I like the composition although i think you had slight issue with focus. But the compositon is quite nice.
