Black Bear for Evelynn

This is a black bear under an orange umbrella.
I spotted it on a rocky bank, seemingly enjoying the warmth and sun of a beautiful mid October day.
The autumn colours were very orange and yellow this year, and also short lived.Early frosts initiated an early dropping of the leaves. For the most part all the leaves have fallen now. There are a few trees still hanging onto their leaves but that won't last long.
I found a couple of appropriate quotes about October, and the autumn leaves.

"Listen! the wind is rising, and the air is wild with leaves,
We have had our summer evenings, now for October eves!"
- Humbert Wolfe

"Then summer fades and passes and October comes. We'll smell smoke then,
and feel an unexpected sharpness, a thrill of nervousness, swift elation, a
sense of sadness and departure."
- Thomas Wolfe

"It is only her in large portions of Canada that wonderous second wind,
the Indian summer, attains its amplitude and heavenly perfection, -- the
temperatures; the sunny haze; the mellow, rich delicate, almost
flavoured air: Enough to live -- enough to merely be."
- Walt Whitman, Diary in Canada
Thanks for looking.
And as Ringo Starr says "Peace and Love ,Peace and Love."

Hello Wolf,
A black bear under an orange umbrella:-)
I don't know whether the bear is the icing on the cake or the setting. Even without the bear the image is great.
Thanks for sharing this swift elation...:-)

What a great black spot in this picture! Good the bear haven't seen the wolf ;-) You are right, the leaves were fantastic this year and short lived, the frost started at the beginning of October. The trees are bare as you say and I wish the colours were still there. Thanks to this wonderful post, with the bear who may be close to a cavern... who knows. Thank you monsieur Wolf, I love reading your posts.. peace and love, sure!

Hi Wolfie
This is a scene so warm for the colours and the black but cute bear standing right up there. The rich autumn seems to light up the composition on fire while the black bear is the cool component in the frame. The vertical composition works very well.
Thanks a lot for sharing
Cheers

The diversity of colours is impressive. Perfect composition.

No matter where this shot was taken it gives enough of environmental to show here it really lives....and this would be quite right on...You were quite quick to catch the moment here rob...oops....Wolfy...like Wolfman Jack in the 1960's, you broadcast or post from the wilderness..one from the SW and one from Ontario!

Hi Wolf

This is a really amazing photo and indeed a superb dedication for our good friend, Evelynn!
This is the kind of shot that you don't know what to admire firs :) I like the back bear a lot, too, but the surroundings - with all the charming autumn colors - are equally lovely.
The composition is also great and creates a very nice balance between the bear and the colorful trees and the DOF that you chose ensured an excellent overall sharpness.
Wonderful capture and work!

Bravo and TFS

Hello Wolf,
What another very special image, looks as though this bear is well fattened up for its long sleep which will come soon. Beautiful work Wolf.
Rick

Hi Wolf,

The point of view takes our eyes toward the black bear. The trees wearing the fall colors are a natural frame to the bear. The imahe is clear and precise. The colors are enhanced by the good light.

Pierre
