This is a wonderful picture!! It has great depth because of the coming storm. Details on the butterfly are excellent, colors are superb and the composition is very strong. The combination of a landscape/wheather and macro photo makes this something different. This is great! Straight into my favs. Well done & TFS!

Brilliant composition, the POV of the butterfly with t he storm in the background is unique.
I think the darker tones are quite apt in this shot, I would not have lightened them either.

How I do enjoy lighting here. I agree with you: the lighting has to be gloomy here.

What I find amazing about this picture is the fact we can "see" the storm on the background - and that's very nice.

Oh my god! What a magnificent photo! So dramatic! Not often do you see a macro shot with a landscape and sky in the background. Perspective is so confusing, the butterfly looks massive! (that's not a criticism) Lighting is perfect. Excellent work.

I cannot belive that I missed this one Monika. Very artistic presentation of a beautiful butterfly. The light colours of the butterfly against the threathning dark clouds and the red colours on the seed. The simplicity and the strong composition. Very cool! It is a very different yet powerful image! I love the effect of the storm clouds in the background and the blurred focus around the butterfly. You have managed to keep good light and detail on the butterfly while keeping the background dark.
