Last night, November 6,7 2008 it snowed hard in my wilderness. It started at 5pm and ended then this morning in time for the sun to just barely come peaking though...but I wasn't there to see it this year....and yet, knowing me and my beloved wilderness...somehow I knew there was a date connection, so I plugged in my #3 hard drive and search through the older files of my wilderness days. sure enough...it was there...

In 2005 on the very same night and next day it snowed hard and heavy and this is what you see of it that Nov 7 very early morning as I drove a kid to the rural and very remote bus stop. We are looking south west from 3500 feet across the Kettle River Valley and up to the Sherman Pass area which contains Washington States highest mountain pass...the one we have to go over should we want to get there or here from there vis versa.

I was looking at all of my photos from that time in week and found some turkey shots and a Blue Heron and some ducks..all in a small time frame etched into my mind and in some good fortune into digital..

Hy again...
I just comment your previous picture, and saying sorry beceaus I have to go home, but, when I saw this new picture I was almost to jump for joy like a little kid.First snow.I like the almost b-w tones, the snow covering the trees, aspecially those from the BG(deciduous ones). Thanks for sharing this beautiful landscape.

Hi Bob,
A beautiful image of your wilderness and I admire how your imagination and memory was sparked by the recent snowfall. The atmosphere of the image is so calm and pleasant. I am a fan of winter and even over here I wait and hope for the experience of a decent "snowfall" up north. Last year I was lucky and I hope for the same this year.Take care and my best wishes. David

Hi Bob

Well i guess it's a matter of days here, too (even if i can still walk in a t-shirt during the day). I'm actually looking forward to take some good winter-scapes, so wish me luck :)

This is a gorgeous shot of "your wilderness" and even if this is a 3-year old shot, it's still lovely. The way the light is naturally filtered here by the clouds and then further diffracted by the snow give the entire scene such a nice and even look. I love the look of the trees in the distance (covered with such a charming layer) as well as the overall perspective.

Bravo and TFS

Ciao Bob,

Hi Bob.
It really is something different what we have now in our region. And you have captured this amazing state of weather perfectly. What a wonderful place, what impressive light and colour tones and superb details of the entire scene. POV and composition of the shot are brilliant. Thanks for next masterpiece from you.

Hello Bob,
A very beautiful capture you've retrieved from the past! The depth, the colours and the composition are all wonderful! I hope the snow will arrive later at your place this year though!
TFS and best wishes, Ulla

Gorgeous landscape. Perfect use of the foreground to frame. As usual, you've created a piece of art.

Hi Bob,
First snows are nice becausethe give the landscape a fresh blanket, but when it over stays its welcome winter can be tough especially in the wilderness. Wonderful image my friend.

Oh Bob - that looks cold. . . And those clouds look so stormy. It is a very grey scene, but so interesting for me to see from down here.

What a wonderful time! I always love the first snow! I'm a crazy when it comes to snow, and am dying for my chance for the snow to return here. Very beautiful photo Bob! I love winter photography! Thanks for sharing the great photo and the great news! Cheers Josh Lewis.

Hi Bob,

The point of view leads our eyes down thw snowy slop toward the valley which is giving depth to the photo. The trees are framing well the scenery. The cloudy sky is filtering the light which has a special effect on the colors. Have a nice day.
