| A wild cactus, who looked like those I have in pots. I found it in the island Aruba in the Caribbean. It was big and just growing there in the sand. I was happy I saw it in time and did not step on it. |

Hi Monika, this is a very prickly cactus, and it is good to see one growing in it's natural state. Yes, I don't think I'd like to step on it either. Good comosition and colours. Well done.

Hello Monica, very interesting catcus. It looks pretty mean! The knob on the top - is that flower? Nice shot, maybe a lower POV would have worked well here.
Glad you didn't step on it! Very nice looking cactus, I love the red top and the HUGE spikes! Well done.

Missed this picture when you posted it, somehow. Very nice adult Melocactus sp. They are not often as clean and healthy in nature. The structure at the top is typical of Melocactus. It is called a cephalium and develops when the plant reaches maturity. The flowers are the small pink things protruding from the center of the cephalium. The cephalium gets taller every year, while the rest of the plant stops growing.
