In the Ennedi Mountain Range of Chad lies this canyon, named Guelta d'Archei. It is a prehistoric remnant of a river system now completely isolated in the middle of the Sahara desert. Camels and fennecs alike come to this water reservoir to drink putrid water. A rare breed of Nile crocodiles, living in complete isolation since the last 10000 years are supposed to live in here, but frankly I couldn't spot one.

Central Africa is still a big blank beautiful spot on the map , too many people afraid to get there because of insecurity, I guess it works for some of us ... Great photo, superior colors, clarity and POV.
