Ditrichialand and Gathering nectar

Dear friends, today a landscape capture from Geçitkoy, situated at the western end of the Kyrenian Mountain Range in Northern Cyprus. You can see that this finishing point in my shot and we are in the dried stream bed of the Geçitkoy Lakelet. Here you can see that the bed covered with Dittrichia viscosa (False yellowhead) in Autumn Season. As you remember from my previous postings, I photographed so many beauties feeding with nectars. Today, an additional lepidopteran species, Macroglossum stellatarum (Hummingbird Hawkmoth), in gathering nectar is attached as a WS to show this beauty and the details from a False yellowhead group.

Macroglossum stellatarum (Hummingbird Hawkmoth) is a species of hawk moth with a long proboscis, and regularly hovers, making an audible humming noise. These two features make it look remarkably like a hummingbird when it feeds on flowers. It flies during the day, especially in bright sunshine, but also at dusk, dawn, and even in the rain, which is unusual for even diurnal hawkmoths. It is distributed throughout the northern Old World from Portugal to Japan, but is resident only in warmer climates (Portugal, Spain, Germany, Italy, Greece, Turkey, Cyprus, North Africa, and points east), in two or more broods. Larva is green or brown and feeds on bedstraws. It is strongly migratory and can be found virtually anywhere in the hemisphere in the summer. However it rarely survives the winter in northern latitudes (e.g. north of the Alps in Europe, north of the Caucasus in Russia, etc.). Hibernates as an adult, but rarely survives the winter north of the Alps.

Hello Bayram,
Beautiful capture of this landscape with the mass of yellow flowers in the foreground. Also a fine capture of the Hawkmoth in the Workshop. It is very valuable to see different habitats from various parts of the world. I can imagine this buzzing with insects!
Many thanks and best wishes, Ulla

Hallo Bayram
I would love to see this landscape with all these flowers for real. I think I'll get lost in my own world. It must be a feast to be so near to such enormous amounts of flowers right in front of one’s eyes. I am sure it must be overcrowded with insect’s and butterflies and all other small creatures, not to mention some other flowers hidden in between these ones that the eye cannot see from here. As I said to Rick earlier: "Thanks for sharing parts of the world by ways of your photos that I’ll never have the opportunity to see in my lifetime". The blue of the sky is beautiful.
Thanks for sharing a part of your nature.
Best regards
Anna

Hi Bayram, beautiful landscape with great colors, Ilike a lot splendid macro of this fast little devil in the ws, very well done, ciao Silvio

Merhaba Bayram,
TFS.

Hi Bayram,

This posting in combination with your workshop image is very nice, nice photos and interesting information.

Thanks,

Hello Bayram

This is a beautiful landscape shot.
The colours are vivid and appealing to the eye.
I like the way you composed the scene with the ascending hillside.
The colourful foliage in the foreground really adds to the shot and contrasts the sky.
Great job.

Bonjour Bayram,
Très beau et remarquable paysage ; l'opposition de couleurs entre le bleu du ciel et le jaune des fleurs est splendide.
A bientôt sur TN pour de nouvelles aventures.
Gérard

Merhaba Dr. Bayram,
Nice mediterranean landscape. Not a great place for fungi. :) But great for insects, and most probably for lizards.
The fact that I was making my own WS version doesn't mean I don't like the original image, just (by my opinion) corrected some minor things. Please have a look.
Friendly regards, László
