[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This was captured on the Guassa plateau in the central highlands of Ethiopia. This adult male has the distinctive mane and elongated head that, apart from body and tooth size, differentiates him from gelada (Theropithecus gelada) females.

Geladas feed almost entirely on grass and herbs and live in large herds, making them unique amongst primates. They are the last extant member of a genus that was once widespread. Now their habitats are restricted to sub-alpine and alpine grasslands near suitable sleeping cliffs in Ethiopia. Their future is threatened mostly by habitat destruction.

He certainly looks like a powerful male, I love the proud pose you caught here and the marvelous details captured. I love the red on his breast and the long fur over his shoulders. Amazing sight
