EDIT
Hello my friends,
When I saw this beautiful bird for the first time; I thought as Carduelis flavirostris; however, this was rare species in Turkiye, especially this area and I saw more than one hundred C. cannabina in same clusters. So, I identified wrongly it into latter species.
Just after uploading, I had to go to a formal meeting in university rectorate. Now, I came back six hours later (after posting) and I found a big surprise for me:) I was wrong with misidentification of
Carduelis cannabina. Cosmin Manci (cosmln) is right for true species which is new one for me and second time on TN (after Ivan's post).
Sorry my misidentification
.
This is Carduelis flavirostris - Sarıgagalı Ketenkuşu [TR], Twite [EN] (PASSERIFORMES: FRINGILLIDAE), not a C. cannabina.
My special thanks to Cosmin. Many thanks to my other friends: Ivan Kruys (argus), Akif Aykurt (raptorman), Fatih İzler (izler), Volkan Pek (volkan), Peter van Zoest (peterz), Pekka Valo (pekka) and other friends and of course, TRAKUS - Turkish Bird Photography group.
---------------------------

My first post on TN was Carduelis cannabina – Ketenkuşu [TR], Linnet [EN] from Jordan about two years ago (see
photo). This species was also known formerly as Acanthis cannabina. It is a small finch of the family FRINGILLIDAE. Its male is colourful and the male has a powder-blue head, a red forehead and a rich reddish-brown back in summer plumage. There is no red parts in females and young. Both of them have white underparts with the breast streaked buff.
I also posted its colorful male from Turkiye (see photo).

Today, you will see another Carduelis species in winter plumage [I noted it wrongly as female C. cannabina when I uploaded it]. Another pose for this species is presented as a Workshop. I hope you will like them.
The twite ranges in Northern Europe and the area from the Caucasus and North-eastern Anatolia to Western China. In Turkiye; it is a resident bird in Eastern Black Sea [Karadeniz] and Eastern Anatolian regions. These populations belong to the subspecies Carduelis flavirostris brevirostris.
In Latin; flavi means yellow or reddish yellow, brevi is short and rostris is rostrum [bill].

The shots were taken three days ago, after my former post of Motacilla cinerea. The linnets mostly roosted on short trees and biannular plants in large groups. Camera was on hand again:)

Dedication to my dear friend from Malaysia, Jusni Nasirun (jusninasirun) who came back after a long break. welcome again my brother.

Hi Ahmet,

a great photo.
but i think the ID is wrong. i will say that this is a male in winter cloth of Carduelis favirostris. a species much much more rarer.
a great capture, a favorite for me.

Merhaba Ahmet Dostum,
A very fine capture of a species of Carduelis that I think is a subspecies of flammea, probably related to C. flammea cabaret, the Lesser Redpoll.
This image is sharp and with good colours. As the red patch on the top of the head is missing I think this is a juvenile.
The black markings on the breast and the black legs rule out flavirostris.
Cok tesekkür ederim,
Eline saglik,
Ivan

Hello Ahmet .

Hello Ahmet,
What a beauty! Excellent colours and details.
My contribution to the ID discussion: I think this is the Carduelis flavirostris brevirostris (Asia Minor Twite). This is the Turkish (Asian) subspecies of the Twite with more white on the wings and black spots on the breast. The C. flammea is very rare in Turkey.
Regards,
Peter

Hello Ahmet,
Very interesting to see such a rare bird and shown with such an excellent picture. Well composed with great sharpnesss and fine light.
I'm just a little disturbed by the red of your text beneath. It seems for me not to fit well with the fine colours of your picture. I hope you don't mind my remark.
My best wishes for 2009
Anne

Hallo Ahmet
This is a very dainty little bird with fine features that fit it well. I am amazed by the great focus and clarity as well as the pitch black colour of the paws. This is really a striking bird with delicate and fine plumage. You have captured it with great focus and sharpness. The blue sky as backdrop highlights this birds features even with more visibility and charm. Thanks for sharing this lovely dedication.
Best regards.
