Absolutely stunning photography! The expression captured is priceless. You do not only deserve a smiley with this image, but the winners cup as well. Bravo, bravo. Outstanding focus, precisely captured details and true representation of natural colours. I can find no fault, but only sing you praises. This guy is beautiful because of his uglyness. He looks like the chief of some kind of tribal nation. This is indeed a very special moment captured. Thanks for all your wonderful contributions to the site, this being one of them.

I hope you have a portrait gallery of these Baboons with different expressions on their faces! I want to see them all. This is magnificent. The features are excellent, that mass of hair is amazing, and the wrinkles on his face are priceless. His eyes are beautiful - his teeth not. Is there a dentist in the house?

terwijl ik dode Ganzen laat zien kom jij met dit erg mooie portret foto van een aap die zijn tanden laat zien.
Er is maar een klein min puntje en dat is waarom niet als staande foto?
Denk met de snelheid van reageren dat je hem liggend hebt genomen.

- "the un-dead"
- "my mother in law". (If you think he's too manly to look like my mother in law, you haven't seen my mother in law)

Excelent shot. Very detailed. Perfect light and colors. Not so common animal on TN. And indeed, what an expression on his face. Terrific.
I might have uncentered him slightly more to the left, but it is also good as it is.

How's "I am a 1960' rock star...guess my name" for a title :)
Indeed such terrific close-ups with mammal's facial expression are always special and if taken properly, they can inspire many people.
I think this is the case here, with this big Gelada male and his very impressive portrait.
Wonderful and very exact sharpness here in all aspects, very good DOF, too and spot-on exposure...these elements give a bit more drama to the scene and enhance the look of your subject.

Fantastic portrait, really captures the individual personality of this male. It seems that the skin coloration surrounding the eye on this male is darker/diminished in comparison with the obscurus subgenus (the ones I became quite familiar with at Guassa). Thanks for sharing, the ancillary description is very informative.
