This is a carpet of wild garlic that i came across while walking through Garston Wood a small wooded area
not to far from my home.Wild Garlic starts flowering between May and June,this species is characteristic of old established woodlands,It is a very tasty plant and can b eaten in its raw or cooked state can be a very tasty addition to a salad.
The juice of the leaves can be used as a moth repellent and a general household desinfectant |

Hi Malcom,
i was here only a couple of weeks ago! There wasn;t anything like this when i was here, maybe i'll go back this weekend. A lovely wide view with subtle light and superb details - nice work! Hope you are well, have a good bank holiday.

So this is what garlic looks like before it goes to the grocery store... What a nice capture. Any idea what the purple flowers are in the BG?

This is a superb shot, excellent use of the rule of thirds, love the POV showing really good d.o.f, very nice work, and that splash of purple in the b/g just adds that touch of colour, t.f.s

Hi Malcolm-
Beautiful shot and surprising to me for an unusual reason- it is such a complete monoculture! Why such complete coverage by the garlic to the exclusion of everything else? Is this common? Is there some chemical or other reason for the dominance?
