Hi Goutam,

Paul
Never seen such a Caterpillar portrait ever before, Goutham. It's a scream!
That face with the blue eyes is simply astounding.
Your visits here are getting scarce, so this unique image is a wholesome solace for those who admire your work.
And I am one of them :).

Hello Goutham,
The eye-markings shine superbly from this frontal POV to make this Oleander hawk-moth caterpillar look quite menacing, which is its warning signal. The food plant is usually Oleander, which is highly poisonous with red, pink or white flowers. Would that be the same as 'Nandi batlu'?
Superb macro showing it in an unconventional way. Look forward to seeing another shot of it!
Thanks and all the best,
Ivan

Wow, it is phantastic! If you comare a imagine taken with a scanning electron microscope and your picture, could be almost the same quality. You can perfectly see the skin texture, all the details!
Excellent!

Hi Goutham,
Apologise for not being around much of late I can see I've missed quite a few posting, but I really appreciate the feedback many thanks good point about the B/G highlights I have taken note.
This is a superb shot, I've yet to delve into the macro world but this image really inspires me to do so, an excellent composition taken from a perfect POV, amazing detail,
I really would be interested in some of the technical information, i.e like what speed, lens, aperture, and ISO, you used.
Really nice work,
All the best, Cheers Rick :)

Hello Goutham,
your frontal approach to the oleander hawkmoth's caterpillar is a winner, demonstrating false-eye mimikry in a very convincing, really flashy way. I like the frame filling composition, the perfectly placed focus just on head and the pair of legs holding the stem, and the very pleasant gradual softness of the rest, giving enough information of the whole shape while creating excellent three-dimensionality out of the depth.
Lucky fate that hawkmoth's mother placed her eggs on your "Nandi batlu". Most other gardeners would have got rid of a creature destroying their plants. You took care of it and helped it turn into a next generation of hawkmoth. Both of you were rewarded.
And so are we, seeing your fine series of images.
With thanks, and best regards,
Peter

Lovely shot Gautham!! Words would be less to describe its beauty. Perfect colours, composition and sharpness.
I saw your pics of moth also, not as pretty as the caterpillar. (Am talking of caterpillar, and not the picture). I also clicked a pic of Oleandar Hawk Moth, but the image quality is not good as that also was clicked by the only PnS camera I had. Was going to post it first, but then the super quality of the picture you have posted made me change my mind. :)
Once again, thanks for sharing such a beautiful pic.
