Ophrys ferrum-equinum
 |
|
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
Variable species with wide distribution in Greece and islands, except Cephalonia where it is replaced by Ophrys gottfriediana, while in eastern Aegean island a close species (or probably a variant), Ophrys labiosa exists. It is recognized by the spread out lip with grey-violet marginal hair in the shoulders and the shiny blue speculum which is not surrounded by white line and is not reaching the lip base. Flowering time: March-May

Hello Anita and Mike
Another lovely Ophrys portrait. Great lighting shows the fine detail in the lip and really brings out the colour of the speculum.
