hello friends, here is a souvenir from
winter 2009, the American Goldfinch
with nonbreeding plumage in-flight

from All Abour birds website

http://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/American_Goldfinch/id

« American Goldfinches are the only finch that
molts its body feathers twice a year, once in late
winter and again in late summer. The brightening
yellow of male goldfinches each spring is one
welcome mark of approaching warm months.

merican Goldfinches breed later than most
North American birds. They wait to nest until
June or July when milkweed, thistle, and other
plants have produced their fibrous seeds,
which goldfinches incorporate into their
nests and also feed their young.

Goldfinches are among the strictest vegetarians
in the bird world, selecting an entirely vegetable
diet and only inadvertently swallowing
an occasional insect.»

Merci

Asbed

Juste que j'ai besoin de ! Le rappel d'hiver ? Ha ! Winter...may it's blessing be a gone one...but the images shall remain...so thanks for showing us an archival of your nearing completion of flight birds....but wait! You need some raptors...some big birds now....You might have to hunt farther but you have a guardian dog...perhaps teh only person I know with two hearts!
Bob

Great pose here Asbed. A good clear shot with good lighting as well. I like the framing of it too. Very nice shot. Trevor

Hello Asbed,
Once again you have used the capacity of your equipment to the maximum and considering that, I write my critique of this shot of a non-breeding American Goldfinch in flight as follows:
+: Sharpness, DOF, pose++, POV, BG, composition++, colours and lighting.
-: none. When you invest in DSLR equipment your skills will really come through!

Thanks and have a good weekend,
Ivan

Hi Asbed,

A good in flight shot, which I find a little overexposed in places (have done a workshop, hope you like it) Well caught action, with a natural background.

Best regards

Hi Asbed,

A fantastic shot of this Goldfinch in a wonderful in-flight position. Everything is beautiful - the face, eye, wings and tail feathers. Lovely natural colors and super sharp details. He stands out perfectly from the familiar background. I'm surprised you waited so long to post this beauty.

Pierre
