[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
A combination of 6 individual shots (fired off very quickly in succession) of a Gannet plunge diving at Smerwick Harbour on the Dingle peninsula, County Kerry.

It took me about an hour to work out how to best get this photographed and capture these shots. Thankfully this Gannet hunted near me and dived every few minutes.
Often enough it was close enough for shots.
I just kept refocusing on the bird, and once it spotted something (you know when) I hit the shutter and kept the finger down.
The Canon 40D shoots 6.5 frames a second. That helped.
I also need good light to get the speed (1/3200s @ 400mm, ISO320, F7.1).
The combination of the frames was done in photoshop

Really effective use of burst shooting and compositing skills. Cool the way the wings collapse to the body at impact with the water.
