Locally common, and approachable (very, in this case!), Grey-breasted laughingthrushes (Garrulax fairbanki) are endemic, with a restricted distribution in montane habitats, to the Western Ghats of south India - a mountainous global biodiversity hotspot. The birds are usually in small noisy groups, skulking in lower bushes and brambly thickets.

Hello Ravi,
Though slightly out of the picture and a little soft this shot deserves more credit! This surely must be a TN first for this species, Garulax jerdoni fairbanki (I don't know if this has become a separate species of laughing thrush). The features are well shown with good clarity and colours.
