Taken one frame after the previous shot, which demonstrates both the speed of the mother bear and the slow frame rate of the Nikon D3x!

Compositionally, I prefer this picture. I think the strong foreleg adds balance to the picture. However, I find the other picture to be much more appealing emotionally.

Here the mother appears to be taking a more assertive stance, reminding the cubs to stay put.

Both pictures were taken from a tripod with a Wimberly head.
