You have delighted my eyes and my heart with this beautiful and colourful image, jam packed with beauty and splendour. It is a warm and inviting image, just like I have experienced your personality. The overall image reminds me of summer. The colours of both the flower and the butterfly are striking and sharp. The anthers of the flower is clear and obvious. This is my kind of photograph. Colourful, warm, unpretentious and pleasing to the eye. SUPER STUFF. Thanks for sharing. Best regards.

How are you my friend?
Good to hear from you again.
It's a shame that Sigma AF 70-300 mm f/4-5.6 has not met your expectations. However, note that some results were good. As for this, which reveals excellents colors, approach and a light level well, above average. I think you've done well.

It's quite difficult to find the right words to describe this marvellous picture. I can't discover any problems due to the lens. From the technical point of view, everything is perfect: the sharpness, the lighting and the colour management. But even more important is the expression of the picture, its pleasant aspect and the fact it creates the desire to look at it.

This is what I call a colorful photo and it is certainly a pleasure to see on a grey day like today. I love the brightness of the colors and the wonderful details in both butterfly and flower. The composition is very good, but I would have cropped of the OOF green leaf. It does claim some attention away from the subject.

Grandioso lavoro.

I like the framing, and the freshness of the whole scene is amazing!

Two colorful beauties on the same picture..it's almost like a competition..
I know the Colias phicomone, which I see sometimes in our mountain-regions, but it is a very shy butterfly, difficult to catch.
Interesting composition and a pleasure to look at all these colors.
I wish you a nice Sunday

harika canlı renkler, çok güzel kompozisyon..
Tebrik ederim, çok güzel fotoğraf..
lucky friend, what a splendour of colours in your garden! Stunning precision of details in such an extended depth of field acheived by excellent equipment in very skilled hands.
The strong cropping is a convincing demonstration of high precision delivering best resolution.
Feeling tempted to try out also some less rigorous cropping in order to increase the focus of attention in that fine picture's centre - please see workshop.
As far as the species is concerned: Some yellows are difficult to tell from each other, but C. phicomone is said to be confined in Europe to high elevation mountain areas only. So I would rather vote for a female of "Colias alfacariensis (Ribbe, 1905)- Berger's Clouded Yellow" which is a lowlands species.
Beautiful posting, sending a lot of positive energies - thank you!
With best regards,

Frame filling color, the flower & b-fly share subject status nicely..

A superb capture, you Sigma allowwing you to take this Colias species with fine sharpness and DOF on the Gaillardia flower. The colours and composition are excellent too.
As Odessa lies close to sea level I don't think this is a Mountain >Clouded yellow. This is more likely to be a female Colias alfacariensis, as Peter says.
Thanks and best regards to you,

Wow Alex! What an explosion of colors!!!
You did great with this composition showing us the flower and butterfly diagonally. That brings dynamism to the picture. We have several Pieridae in North America but it is the first time I see a butterfly of this family with yellow and white on the external upper wing. The flower colors enhanced so well the butterfly. A great and hot shot for us in Quebec, who suffers from cold for several weeks now...
PS. Thank you for your comments about my Falcon and Squirrel: it is very appreciated :-)

With your most kind gesture of sharing quality images such as this from time to time, I feel somewhat remorse that I have not had the time, certainly did have the pain as an excuse I suppose, to visit your fine quality gallery...of which this image is an example of how it is supposed to be done!

Awesome shot of a butterfly framed by a colorful Gaillardia! Sharpness, colors, details are wonderful, although composition-wise I prefer Peter's WS version - but this doesn't mean I don't like the original shot. I not only do, but congratulate for the superb photo also.
Have a great Easter, best regards, László
