[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The Fringed Heath-blue (Neolucia agricola) has 3 subspecies and is distributed through eastern and southern Australia. Although they are found from September to February, local adult populations only live for a few weeks and only one generation per year are produced. The variation through the summer comes with changes in altitude. My local population at 100m above sea level has already been and gone for this year, but other populations in the nearby mountains will continue to hatch until January. Only in areas above 1500m will there be any in February. The species has a wingspan of 21mm and males regularly hilltop and display with open wings. They are found only in open woodland with a heathy understorey.

Hi Chris,

Woh! Lycaena interest me greatly! I think they are true miracles in miniature. This has photographed the most excellently. Almost never see pictures of them with open wings. The distribution of light and approach combine for a photo very well managed. Congratulations friend!

TFS and Happy WE for you.

Jesús

Hi Chris.
I met this species with open wings very seldom and have not such nice shots as yours. Reproduction of all features of the butterfly is terrific. I also impressed with pictorial BG, its colouration, level of blurriness and illumination. Bravo. Precise, perfect job.
Alexei.
